I would like to introduce my clear, practical, and approachable book about acting for everyone who wants to start acting — or finally understand how acting truly works.

This book is based on my many years of professional experience: teaching acting at a primary school, studying at the Prague Conservatory, working in dubbing studios and at Czech Radio, as well as my background in amateur theatre. Over time, notes and exercises gradually evolved into a complete guide that helps beginners find their way in acting without unnecessary theory or academic language.

Getting Started with Acting is written in a friendly, simple, and practical style. It explains fundamental acting techniques, working with nervousness, text, and imagination. Beyond that, the book also encourages readers to develop a healthier and kinder relationship with themselves.
